Drywall substrate recommendations for Acoustement Plaster 20 and Acoustement Plaster 40:
5/8 inch type x drywall
16 inch framing or less
Drywall joints to receive a level 4 finish (prepared for painting)
Acoustement Plaster 20 is a 22 lbs per cubic foot gypsum-based formulation used for interior applications where contact or high abuse is not a requirement. Acoustement Plaster 20 has the capability to be our smoothest finish (although not plaster smooth) and still retain its sound absorption. Ideal for drywall substrates, Acoustement Plaster 20 can be applied to a variety of unpainted substrates. When substrates have been painted, contact Pyrok, Inc. for substrate preparation.

Acoustement Plaster 40 is a 40 lbs per cubic foot gypsum plaster formulation used for interior applications where contact and moderate abuse may occur. When used in contact areas (low wall surfaces), the semi-smooth finish and 1-2 coats of paint are recommended. Ideal for drywall substrates, Acoustement Plaster 40 can be applied to a variety of unpainted substrates. If substrates have been painted, contact Pyrok, Inc. for substrate preparation.

Acoustement 40 is a 41 lbs per cubic foot Portland cement formulation. This product is suitable for interior and exterior applications to unpainted concrete, metal deck, structural steel, concrete block and other substrates containing Portland cement. This product has high abuse resistance and can be used in wet, high humidity and acidic atmosphere applications. If substrates have been painted, contact Pyrok, Inc. for substrate preparation.

All three types of Pyrok Acoustement have extensive acoustical test data for sprayed texture finishes; semi-smooth trowelled finishes and up to four coats of spray-applied, water-based paints. Acoustement Plaster 20 and Acoustement Plaster 40 can be cleaned by vacuum brushing while Acoustement 40 can also be cleaned by high pressure water (up to 1000 psi) with detergent or steam.

The desired acoustical performance of Pyrok Acoustement is achieved by a combination of the thickness of the type of Acoustement as well as how much coverage is utilized.
